The Future of Germany: Turkey

The Future of Germany: Turkey

Yesterday, Germany celebrated its 20th anniversary since reunification.  I hope they had a blast because it may have just been their last time rejoicing. As with many a European country, Germany is experiencing severe population decline. The primary area of growth is relegated to immigration. In fact, Germany holds the third highest percentage of immigrants, 16 million out of a population of 81 million. The largest ethnic community? Turks. Nearly 4 million of them, generally subscribing to the Muslim faith.

This may seem trivial, but it certainly is not. Germany’s birth rate is only 1.36 babies per woman. Meanwhile, the birth rate among the Muslim population averages 4.4 per woman. Currently, the Muslim population of Germany is estimated at around 5 million, with over 150,000 new Muslim citizens added every year.

This has led certain government officials to declare that Germany will become a Muslim state by 2050. Recently, Chancellor Angela Merkel finally faced the music, admitting that “For years we’ve been deceiving ourselves about this.” Later she added, “Mosques, for example, are going to be a more prominent part of our cities than they were before.”

The numbers really speak for themselves.
